Baltimore East-West Expressway Work, 1952-2009
Scope and Content Note
The Baltimore East-West Expressway Work series (1952-2009) contains materials relating to Thomas Ward's time on the Baltimore City Council, where he case the only vote against the expressway, his correspondence, legal documents, collected newspaper clippings, photographs, and other materials documenting his position and work regarding the "Road Wars" in Baltimore City throughout the 1960s and 1970s. The series covers issues surrounding the East-West Expressway (Interstate 170), the West Side Connector, and Interstate 70 West. Notably, the series includes copies of "The City Voice" newspaper, circa 1960s. Series contains some oversize material. Series is organized by topic and issue, and then arranged chronologically.
