Programs and Advocacy, 1955-2014

 Sub-Series
Identifier: 14.G

Scope and Content Note

The Programs and Advocacy subseries (1955-2014) includes materials relating to the League's programs and legislative issues and priorities. The LWV is non-partisan regarding political candidates and parties. The League’s opposition or support of local, national, and international issues makes up the League Program. The League chooses issues for study, support or opposition, and action. The League focuses on a few issues at a time, researches information and community needs, and conducts studies in order to come to a consensus to either support or oppose a specific issue or piece of legislation. For some issues, the League may create outreach programs or educational events, or take other actions. This subseries includes planning materials, correspondence, minutes, studies and questionnaires, and any resources or reports used or collected by the League related to specific programs and issues. Some specific Program topics include: education, transportation, urban renewal, city government issues, and others. Materials in this sub-series may overlap with materials or topics in other series in the collection.

Information about the League Programs was collected from the archival collection and from copies of the League of Women Voters of Baltimore City Handbooks in the archival collection, and from the League of Women Voters of Baltimore City website.
