Scope and Contents

The Prints and Photographs series contains photographs, prints, negatives, slides, cartes de vistes, mounted photographic prints, and other graphic materials. These materials were created by Hayward and colleagues or collected by Hayward in relation to her scholarly and writing projects, her historic preservation surveys, and other activities. These visual materials document the neighborhoods, architecture, and local people of various Baltimore City communities and their histories. Some of the photographs present were used in her books: "The Architecture of Baltimore: An Illustrated History," "The Baltimore Rowhouse," and "Baltimore's Alley Houses: Homes for Working People since the 1780s."
