The Maritime History of the Chesapeake Bay Interviews collection contains fifty taped interviews with specialists discussing various aspects of Chesapeake Bay history from the colonial period to present day. Some notable topics documented by the interviews include plantation culture, slavery in the Bay area, the Underground Railroad, war in the region, port history, piracy, the oyster industry, the U.S. Naval Academy, and other Bay life and maritime related topics. The interviews were conducted by Fred Hopkins and Joe Goldenberg between 1979 and 1980. The recordings have not been transcribed.
