Scope and Contents

The Samuel Ready Scholarships, Inc. Records document the adminstration and functions of the organization in their work providing funds to selected Baltimore private schools in order to support female students through scholarships awards. The collection includes organizational materials in addition to the records of the board of trustees, office of the presidents, and committees dating between 1977 and 2000. Materials are mainly textual and include minutes, correspondence, reports, student files, and publications.

Historical Note

When the Samuel Ready School in Baltimore, Maryland closed its doors in 1977, a scholarship organization known as Samuel Ready Scholarships was incorporated in order to continue Ready's mission of creating educational opportunities for young women in Maryland. This organization provides funds to six Baltimore private schools in order to create scholarships for girls based on a combination of academic merit and financial need. Schools supported by the Ready Scholarships include: The Bryn Mawr School, Friends School, Garrison Forest School, Institute of Notre Dame, Roland Park Country School, and St. Paul's School for Girls.

Custodial History
