The National Association of Social Workers, Maryland Chapter (NASW-MD) supports social workers and their professional development, advocates for social justice, promote the social work profession, and advocates for professional social work standards. NASW-MD is the state chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) which was founded in 1955 to support the work and development of its members.

The collection was donated to the University of Baltimore by Benjamin N. Davis, former Executive Director of the Maryland Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, on February 1, 1979. An additional accrual of records was received in 1982.
