Maryland Communications Center Records
Scope and Contents
The Maryland Communications Center Records consists of an image library created by between 1980 and 2000. The collection holds mainly audiovisual materials and contains over 125,000 photographs, slides, videos, and audio tapes that document Maryland's economic development and the accomplishments of various agencies and officials.
Some topics documented by the collection include transportation, buildings, students, workers, Baltimore scenery, and presentations made to CSX, Westinghouse, NAACP, Catholic Charities, and the National Football League. The collection also includes photographs of Kurt Schmoke, William Donald Schaefer, and other politicians, musicians, and individuals. Also present in the collection are clippings, newspaper articles, and reports.

Collection is open for viewing. Gloves are recommended when handling photographic material.

The images in this collection may be used for audio visual viewing only. The images may not be used for print, internet, or any other medium. For all other uses, please contact the photographer. The three primary photographers whose work is represented in the collection are Rick Lippenholz, Greg Pease, and Dave Harp. Copyrights are held by the photographers.
Historical Note
The Maryland Communications Center, Inc. dissolved as a corporation on September 30, 2000. At that time, the corporation contacted the University to donate its multimedia library, which documented the accomplishments of the Greater Baltimore Committee (and its predecessor, the Economic Development Council), the Maryland Economic Growth Associates, the Maryland Awards for Economic Excellence, Maryland's National Executive Forums, the Mayor's Office during the Schaefer and Schmoke Administrations, and numerous sales and marketing presentations to CSX, Westinghouse, NAACP, Catholic Charities, and the National Football League.
