Scope and Contents
This collection consists primarily of four boxes of subject files created by the American Society of Pension Actuaries documenting various aspects of employment pension benefits and related topics between 1921 and 1982. Some topics represented in the collection related to pensions include non-profits, laws, insurance, and other topics relevant to the Society and its membership.

Historical Note
The American Society of Pension Actuaries was founded in 1966 as a non-profit professional organization acting on behalf of actuaries policy. After 1984, the organization came to include advisors, attorneys, accountants and other financial services professionals in employer-based retirement systems and was renamed the American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries. The society studies all aspects of employment pension systems to educate its membership and to improve and enhance the system of retirement benefits.
