Scope and Contents

This collection includes 588 glass plate negatives and photographic prints dated between 1903 and 1908 showing scenes in and around Baltimore. The collection also contains a scrapbook showing the 1904 Baltimore fire. The glass plate negatives and prints are numbered. The collection was compiled by Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Briscoe.

Collection is open for research. Gloves are recommended when handling fragile and photographic material.

Historical Note

The collection was assembled by Nathan Mash, a Baltimore meat packer who developed a method for curing low salt content ham. Mr. Mash served as a member of the Board of Trustees when the University of Baltimore was a private university.
