Scope and Content Note
This collection contains materials that are a combination of two distinct research projects: the NORTH AVENUE 100 project conducted in 1985-1986 under the direction of Dr. Elaine Eff, and University of Baltimore undergraduate coursework in community studies lead by Dr. Jessica I. Elfenbein in 2005. Materials in this collection include oral history text transcripts, photographs, and student produced projects.
The first series in this collection, Penn-North Oral Histories, 1986, contains text transcripts from the North Avenue 100 oral histories project conducted by Dr. Eff in 1985-1986. The second series, Research Papers, 2005, contains the undergraduate projects in community studies produced in 2005 under the direction of Dr. Jessica I. Elfenbein. The third seires, Photographs, 1985-1986, contains images taken during the North Avenue 100 Project in 1985-1986.

Historical Note
The NORTH AVENUE 100 was a project whose partners included the Neighborhood Progress Administration, Baltimore Traditions, the Maryland Humanities Council, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and private funders. The project produced oral history interviews and photographs.
University of Baltimore professor, Dr. Jessica I. Elfenbein, directed student projects using the North Avenue 100 project in 2005. The complete collection containing all three series was donated to the Special Collections and Archives in 2005.

Custodial History
Series I and III were donated to Jessica Elfenbein by Elaine Eff in 2005. The entire collection was transferred to Special Collections by Jessica Elfenbein in 2006.
