Scope and Contents
The Mount Washington Parent-Teacher Organization Records document the activities of the Parent Teacher Organization of the Mount Washington School between 1978 and 2002. The collection contains meeting minutes, correspondence, reports, program proposals, newsletters, fundraising documentation for programs such as a phon-a-thon, and financial records.

Historical Note
The Mount Washington Parent-Teacher Organization supports the students of the Mount Washington School through community activities and fundraising. The PTO uses funding to enhance student learning experiences and support teachers. The PTO supplements student learning and welfare, and acts as a resource for the students' parents, guardians, and school community.
The Mount Washington School is located in the northern Mount Washington neighborhood of Baltimore City. It began in 1877 as School. No. 8 in Baltimore County and was renamed School No. #221 when Mount Washington was annexed by Baltimore city. Througohut the twentieth century the school grew in size.
