This collection includes 140 original pen and ink drawings of political editorial cartoons created between 1972 and 1992 for local newspapers covering William Donald Schaefer’s years as Mayor of Baltimore City (1971-1987) and Governor of Maryland (1987-1995). Schaefer collected these drawings when they were published. The majority of the drawings were created by Thomas Flannery and Mike Lane for The Baltimore Sun. Other artists of political cartoons in this collection include Glenn Foden of Patuxent Publishing, Bill Garner of The Washington Times, [Eric] Smith of the Capitol Gazette, and Michael Ricig.
