J. Brough Schamp Photographs
The collection contains three linear feet of photographic transparencies (negative and positive film), plus a corresponding set of scanned DNG files. These images document Baltimore City's architectural history through the built environment from 1980 to 2020.

Biographical / Historical
J. Brough Schamp is a professional photographer specializing in architectural, environmental, and aerial photography. He earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography from the University of Michigan and started his own business in 1980. Brough maintains a longstanding interest in regional architectural heritage. He has documented historic structures for the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) and the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT). He served six years on the board of directors of the Federal Hill and Fells Point Preservation Society and received the President’s Award for Craftsman of the Year from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Baltimore chapter in 2008. He is a member of the American Society of Media Photographers, the Baltimore Architectural Foundation, Baltimore Heritage, Preservation Maryland, and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The collection was donated to the University of Baltimore Foundation by J. Brough Schamp in February 2022. All materials were transferred to the University of Baltimore by Schamp and received by Aiden Faust in March 2022.
The collection is unprocessed. Processing is scheduled to begin summer 2022.
