Minutes, correspondence, flyers, by-laws, membership applications, quarterly and annual reports. The bulk of this collection is comprised of the James A. Garfield Camp, No. 1 records. This camp was organized in 1883 and met at the Grand Army Hall, 416 East Baltimore Street.

Historical Note
The Maryland Division of the Sons of Veterans, U.S.A. is an organization open to all male descendants (over the age of eighteen) of soldiers, sailors, or marines who were regularly mustered and served honorably in, or who were honorably discharged from, the army or navy of the United States during the war of 1861-65, and whose ancestors through whom membership is claimed have never voluntarily borne arms against the Government of the United States of America. The Maryland Division comprises the states of Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia. The territorial division is comprised of individual camps which were given a name and number.
