Abstract

NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland is the State affiliate of NARAL Pro-Choice America. The organization advocates for women’s rights for reproductive health options through education, lobbying and supporting pro-choice political candidates, community organizing, and research. This collection documents the administrative files, projects, organizing and education initiatives, outreach work, and research initiatives regarding access to reproductive healthcare.

Scope and Contents The Planned Parenthood of Maryland Records document the administration and activities of the clinic between 1927 and 1973 related to the health care services and education programs it provided. The collection contains a complete set of the publication, Women: A Journal of Liberation, from 1969 through 1983. Multiple copies of some issues exist. Also included are notes and newspaper clippings on the journal, compiled by University of Baltimore history faculty emerita, Dr. Elizabeth Nix.

Women’s Union of Baltimore Collection includes one box of textual materials primarily related to Women's Union of Baltimore group discussions that took place between 1973 and 1980. Examples of these records include meeting notes, handwritten correspondence between group members, circulars for conferences and events, and subject files for related causes.
